SoleLife's mission is to help coaches and their clients succeed. Coaches can manage and automate their business by streamlining business tools into one platform. And their clients benefit from being matched with their perfect coach along with tools for personal growth.

SoleLife delivers a great experience for coaches and clients with video conferencing, chats, admin tasks, scheduling, billing, and more.

The primary goal of this project was to transform the client's vision into a proof of concept set of wireframes in order to help SoleLife secure funding from investors.

The Challenge
Life can be difficult, and sometimes you just need a little extra help. For people looking to hire a personal coach, many don't know what they need or where to start. For coaches, running a coaching business requires juggling admin tasks and multiple software platforms which gets in the way of what matters most: helping people. What if there was one platform that made it easier for both coaches and their clients to connect and form relationships?

Initial Workshops
VALUE PROPOSITION & LEAN CANVAS
SoleLife came to us with a specific vision for an app to disrupt the coaching industry. During our initial workshops with SoleLife, we worked through lean canvas and value proposition exercises to get a better understanding of the idea, deconstruct the idea into its key assumptions, and create an actionable business plan.
Insights
PEER/COMPETITOR LANDSCAPE ANALYSIS
The SoleLife team expressed interest in having Atlantic BT identify current best practices for similar business models. We performed a landscape analysis for 10 peer/competitor companies to gain insight into user expectations, identify best practices for the industry, and generate ideas to inform the design.
COMPARISON GRID
We created a spreadsheet with the competitors/peers in the rows and comparison parameters in the columns. The business-specific parameters were reviewed with two objectives in mind; make notes about the competitor’s approach, especially anything applicable towards workflow design, and indicating their relative effectiveness with a red/yellow/green indicator.

MACRO-WIREFLOWS
Informed by the insights gained from the initial workshops and landscape analysis, macro-wireflows are designed to get a high-level idea of the flow and architecture of a product without investing time into detailed wireframes. Screens are often represented by thumbnail icons depicting rough layouts for page types, and annotations indicate additional details.

Getting to the Nitty-Gritty
WIREFRAMES & PROTOTYPES
After mapping out the product, we got to work wireframing user scenarios. A majority of our effort was focused on the consumer user group as it had the most complex set of features and had been the main focus of all workshops thus far. Several key scenarios were created as a low-fidelity prototype including onboarding, "SoleMatch" questionnaire, payment, scheduling, and more.

INFORMATIVE & SECURE ONBOARDING
SoleLife onboards members with a secure account login to ensure all client data is protected and user privacy is maintained. Users then have a choice between being matched with their ideal SoleCoach or to skip straight to talking with a coach on-call.
FIND THE COACH YOU NEED
Coaches are matched to potential clients based on a variety of factors and criteria. SoleMatch is a brief questionnaire that generates a series of coach matches that best meet the needs of each individual. The client then has the option to schedule a consultation with the coach (or coaches) of their choice.


COACHING ON YOUR TERMS
SoleLife meets where you are with pricing and schedules that work for your lifestyle. Book and schedule sessions with ease. Export appointments to the calendar of your choice, or keep track of everything with an in-app schedule.
PROFESSIONALS ON-CALL
Sometimes life gets in the way and there's no time to find your perfect match. The"Talk Now" feature allows you to connect with an on-call coach whenever you need, no strings attached.

Project Learnings
1. ENERGY IS CONTAGIOUS
Working with an entrepreneur is like drinking from a firehose of ideas. That level of energy, while sometimes chaotic, can move mountains if you let it. As a designer, I find that spark contagious and love working with a stakeholder who is passionate about their project.
2. PRIORITIZE
Create a strategic plan to launch an MVP. This helps deal with out-of-scope requests, keeps the focus on a specific set of key features, and helps deliver a quality product on time and in budget.
3. KEEP YOUR STAKEHOLDERS CLOSE
...and your users closer. Don't put the cart before the horse when it comes to getting user research, it will cost you in the long run. Keeping the stakeholders/users in the loop and testing solutions as early as possible saves time and re-work.
